Baker City isn't necessarily smack dab on the beaten path but it's worth a stop at the Oregon Trail Regional Museum should you find yourself visiting the vicinity. Dedicated to exploring the area's history, the museum (and historic Adler House) provide a glimpse of everything from early automobiles and wild west movies to the unexpected Cavin-Warfel Collection of crystals - reputedly one of the largest in America - and the perfect opportunity to get your "rites", "thites" and "agates" straight.
