Description
Trail follows Kane Creek through aspen patches, with the beautiful high Pioneer Mountain Range in the background. Kane Lake is described by all as the prettiest in the Lost River Ranger District and is well stocked with fish. The first four miles of this trail is easy to moderate in difficulty, but the last mile requires some determination by the hiker. This mile leaves the bottom and the trail becomes very hard to identify. The glacial basin is granite and rock with very scattered alpine fir. Around the lake is more scattered fir. The beauty is enhanced by the view of sharp mountain peaks surrounding the trail. While the visitor cannot see the far, open distances experienced on other trails, the scenery is still rated among the best. Elk and deer help create the mood!
