Part of the West Bonners Ferry trail system. Parker Ridge offers one of the toughest and most scenic hikes in the Selkirks. The easiest approach is via Trail 13 from Trout Creek. After climbing over Pyramid Pass Trail 13 junctions with Trail 221 which ascends to Parker Ridge. Once on the ridge Trail 221 accesses Long Mountain and Parker lakes. Parker Peak, midway down the ridge, affords the kind of views expected from the highest peak in the U.S. Selkirks. Hikers can either return to the Trout Creek trailhead or continue down the trail to the Kootenai Valley. (The only water source between Parker Lake and the K.V. is a small spring off a switchback approximately 5 miles from the valley bottom.) Trail 221 is also part of the Long Canyon - Parker Ridge loop, the longest uninterupted trail system on the Bonners Ferry Ranger District.
