Description

Closed to all motorized vehicles.

This trail is a very scenic, easy hiking trail through some of the most remote country on the District. There is a split log bridge crossing Cascade Creek. Camping and fishing are available at the lake.

Basic Directions

Access #1: From Coeur d’Alene, Idaho drive east on I-90 taking the Kingston Exit #43. After exiting, travel north on Forest Highway 9 (FH9) 23 miles to the junction with Forest Road #208 (FR208). Turn right on FH9 and travel 15.8 miles to the top of Thompson Pass. Turn right onto FR266 (which begins from the back of the scenic view parking lot). Follow FR266 to the end where the trailhead and parking area are located.

Access #2: From Wallace, Idaho drive north 16.3 miles over Dobson Pass on FR456 to FH9. Travel east 1.8 miles on FH9 to FR208 junction. Follow Access #1.
