Description

This century-old theater is the cornerstone of history and culture for Barre, Vermont - granite center of the world. The Opera House hosts 70-100 events each year - from local theater and arts organizations to internationally renowned musicians and dancers, and is home to the Celebration Series, our performance series, which runs from September to May and features some of today's finest performers.

Basic Directions
  • Take Interstate 93 North out of Boston towards New Hampshire. Stay on I-93 into New Hampshire, through Manchester, and on towards Concord.
  • Before you reach Concord, you will get on Interstate 89 North towards Vermont. Cross into Vermont at White River Junction.
  • Stay on I-89, and get off at Vermont exit 6. Follow signs to Barre down the hill. You will go through a flashing yellow light about half way down the hill.
  • At the bottom of the hill is a traffic light. Turn left. You are now on Route 14 going North. Continue about 2 miles through South Barre and into Barre, going through two traffic lights.
  • At the next traffic light, in the center of Barre (large white church on right/post office on left) turn left onto Prospect St. Then immediately turn right onto Merchant's Row. You are now directly behind the Barre Opera House, and there is plenty of metered parking in this area. Our main entrance is accessible from this parking area.
