Red Mountain and Cat Creek Lakes

These alpine lakes at 8722' elevation can only be reached by trail and normally are not free of snow until late June or early July. Hikers and horseback riders typically use the 145 trail, which starts at the end of the 515 road (Red Mt. Lakes trailhead). The distance from the trail head to the lakes up the 145 trail is about 3.5 miles. The lakes can also be reached by foot, horseback, motorcycles or mountain bike via the 144 trail from Bull Trout Lake and the 148 trail from Bonneville Hotsprings. These beautiful, rugged alpine lakes are stocked regularly by airplane with cutthroat trout and cutthroat rainbow hybrids. Please help keep these lakes pristine and beautiful. Pack out what ever you bring in.
