Description

The Bad Medicine Recreation Area is located in the vicinity of the Ross Creek Cedars Scenic Area, a rain forest type atmosphere consisting of giant cedars, streams, and lush vegetation. The campground is located in a natural wooded area offering beauty and serenity.

Located on 7-mile-long Bull Lake, this site is situated among various types of flora and dense conifers. It offers a boat ramp, fishing access, picnic area, and nice views of the immediate vicinity. Fish species include eastern brook and rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, and large mouth bass.

The Ross Creek giant cedar grove is located 3 miles from the campground entrance. For those visiting the cedars but not staying at the campground, a designated parking area is available just off Highway 56 for trailers and large recreational vehicles. Space restrictions at the cedar grove do not allow for large and pull-type vehicles.

Contact the Campground Host in case of emergency. Medical and dental services are available in Troy; medical, dental and optical are available in Libby. St. John''s Lutheran Hospital in Libby offers 24-hour emergency care and is a fully staffed, 26-bed facility. Groceries, fuel, laundry and other services are also available in Troy and Libby.

Basic Directions

From Libby, travel 15 miles west on US Highway 2. Turn south on State Highway 56 and follow for 21 miles to the Ross Creek Cedars road. Turn onto this road and follow to Bad Medicine, which is located appproximately 2 miles from Highway 56.

From Troy, travel 3 miles south on US Highway 2 to the junction with State Highway 56. From this point, follow directions listed above.
