Description

Do you dream of exploring Alaska's most remote and stunning wilderness areas? River raft into Alaska's hidden canyons, towering mountains, and great glacial valleys. Move through the world of grizzly bears, moose, caribou, wolves, and eagles.

Chilkat Guides are professional wilderness guides based in the picturesque Southeast Alaskan town of Haines. Founded in 1978, Chilkat Guides have been specializing in daily and extended river expeditions in the remote reaches of the North, and hold permits to run the finest of Alaska rivers. Raft and hike across the tundra of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or cut through the coastal mountain ranges of the Tatshenshini-Alsek World Heritage Site.

Check out some of the great trips available, then visit Chilkat Guides' website for more details and to book a trip.

Tatshenshini River Rafting Expedition - The Tatshsenshini is the most famous of Alaska Wilderness Rivers. Its unique beauty stirred two nations to join in the move to create the Tatshenshini-Alsek World Heritage Site. It grows from a small stream to a great river where it meets the Alsek, four mountain ranges and numerous hanging glaciers to create Alaska's most spectacular river confluence.

Alsek River Rafting Expedition - The Alsek River carves its way from Canada's Yukon Territories though the world's highest coastal mountain range to the Alaska coast just north of Glacier Bay. Each day the river grows in proportion to the adventures from the excitement of Lava North Rapid to the helicopter portage over Turnback Canyon and the finale in Alsek Bay filled with hundreds of ice bergs. This adventure has it all from stunning scenery to amazing wildlife sightings.

... and more.
