Hikers and backpackers can access the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail from trails found near the cabin. This is a non-motorized trail with spectacular views and a variety of terrain, open to mountain bikers, horseback riders, backpackers, and day hikers. The trail transitions through thick forest to above tree line and offers spectacular views both east and west of the Continental Divide. All types of wildlife, including grizzly bears, frequent the area.

The nearby Blackfoot River ranks not only as one of the most scenic rivers in this part of Montana, but also one of the most heavily used. Excellent fly fishing for brown trout and rainbow trout is found throughout most of its length.

The cabin also offers winter recreation opportunities with cross-country ski trails out the back door and nearby access to over 200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails.
