Description

A part of the area’s mining history can be explored along the trail at the remnants of an old miner’s cabin. Once the trail reaches the ridge, you enter an open alpine meadow with some of the most beautiful scenery on the District. Hiking across this meadow in the summertime provides a very colorful experience when the wildflowers are in bloom. You can see lupine, heartleaf arnica and Indian paint- brushes. You can also see a panoramic view of the Bitterroot Range with the Cabinet Mountains to the north. The trail ends at Granite Peak (elevation – 6,815 feet).
