Description
The Hangerman Tunnel Trail is a non-technical trail in high elevation terrain, with excellent views along its length of alpine scenery, lakes and the ghost town of Douglas.
The trail is a mix of abandoned railroad bed, dirt roadway and singletrack, with a high point of over 11,500 feet. There are interpretive signs along the way that explain about the railroad project. Riders looking for additional mileage can like up with the Turquoise Lake Trail near the end of the ride for an additional grind.
