Camping Info
There are numerous campgrounds along Forest Road 413: Yellow Pine (14 units), Golden Gate (9), Ice Hole (8 units), and Buck Mountain (4 units). Pen Basin (6 units) is on Upper Johnson Creek.

Please note that threatened bull trout inhabit Lower Johnson Creek and must be released unharmed immediately if caught. Please read the Bull Trout Alert.

Basic Directions

Johnson Creek is a tributary of the East Fork South Fork Salmon. Take Forest Highway 24 east from Cascade, over Warm Lake Summit. Forest Road 413 goes downstream along Johnson Creek to Yellow Pine. Forest Road 579 provides access to Johnson Creek upstream.
