Welcome to Palisade! Everyone knows Palisade for its peaches, produce and wine. Did you know that Palisade offers great outdoor adventures?

Hiking the Book Cliffs around Palisade is a rewarding experience. Three popular trails are Mt. Garfield, Stage Coach, and the Petroglyph Trail. Mt. Garfield offers some of the finest views of the Grand Valley. Stage Coach out at the Cameo exit leads to the Little Bookcliffs Wild Horse Range where you are almost certain to see a one of these magnificent animals. The Petroglyph Trail has some of the Valley’s best petroglyph panels.

Mountain bike trails range from beginner rides like the Rolling Double Track around Horse Mountain to challenging climbs up Rapid Creek on the Palisade Rim Trail. For road touring, the 26 mile Fruit & Wine Byway ride is a classic. It winds through the vineyards, Lavender and alpaca farms and orchards around Palisade and East Orchard Mesa. The map shows three shorter ride options for or spread them out over couple of days.

Scenic float trips on the Colorado start in Palisade with the takeout at Colorado River State Park at Corn Lake. One of the gems of Palisade is Riverbend Park, with a boat ramp called “Harky’s Launch.” The Riverfront Trail follows the Colorado River where you can spot wild life while you walk or ride. Bring a picnic for a change of pace.

Don’t forget to check out downtown Palisade before or after your adventure. Whether you choose to experience one of these adventures, tour the wineries and orchards, or just spend time in town, a day in Palisade is like a day in paradise.

Bike Trails, Hiking, Float trips, Kayaking, Paddle boarding, fishing and camping in some of the best outdoor scenery in the West. Just 45 minutes east is the Grand Mesa, the largest flat top mountain in the world with over 300 lakes and miles of trails and to our west the Colorado National Monument with spectacular views of canyons, buttes and mountain vistas.
