Description
The trail follows an old road to the left hand fork of Fall Creek. There are slide rock areas dotted with aspen and scattered fir. When the road ends and the actual trail begins, it follows the creek lined with willows and meadows dotted with aspen and fir trees. It then begins to switchback up the steep mountainside and enters the beautiful Surprise Valley. At the head of Surprise Valley, the hiker will discover that the trail becomes much more difficult, but will enjoy some truly spectacular scenery if he continues! when the trail crosses the creek, the hiker will enjoy the majestic water falls on the right. Soon after, he will enter a rocky saddle which will take him to Betty Lake where, if he has come prepared, he may be able to catch a few cutthroat trout.
